What a way to go out. Non Lin have announced that this is their final bittersweet chapter. The pair go out in a cloud of smoke with a chaotic and truly brilliant 6 track release that shows what the boys were really capable of. I first heard about these guys when researching the Birmingham scene a few months ago and was eagerly awaiting another release from them, and boy, we got it.
The first track Those Who Resist is a 1 and a half minute concrete sledge of power. Full of groove, this is a relentless opener that is the perfect curtain raiser for what is about to follow. White Lice is a track that I've had on repeat since it came out. It sounds like a really pissed off Deftones at the start before the bridge/end of this track has a doomy yet spacey sludge to it, reminiscent of a recent Empire State Bastard song with this all encompassing dissonant noise. Two of the real stand out tracks on this release are Heretic and the title track Kneel Forever. They are probably 2 of the closest tracks on this record in terms of similarity, not in a bad way, but rather a 'they've found their sound' kind of way. Ethereal parts interspersed with soul crushing riffs akin to the likes of Conjurer. It's sad to see them go, but Non Lin have left us with a outstanding farewell. Rating 4.5/5
