Soft Play - Punk's Dead (Review)

Stream the song whilst you read! Soft Play (formally known as Slaves) are back with a vengeance and they have a point to prove. Their first single in 4 years has just dropped and it takes aim directly at those who have doubted them. The hiatus and subsequent name change certainly had many fans worrying, but this proves that there was no need. Aptly named Punk's Dead, this song goes right for the throat of those who doubted their change of name. The very first lyric for example is 'Soft Play? What mate? No I don't like this pile of shit'. Other lyrics include 'Why don't you just stay the same?' I want my money back for the t-shirt'. Isaacs' vocal delivery throughout the whole track is perhaps the most venomous he has over sounded in the bands' history! Punks dead? No chance. Soft Play have just breathed new life in to the scene. Other bands best take note.
